Stripes

Damian is generally really supportive and encouraging about my random sewing projects…until I came up with the great idea to use some leftover fabric to make matching clothes for the kids.

When I asked whether he thought I should have the stripes on both Ellie’s top and pants vertical or one vertical and one horizontal, he said “I don’t think it really matters as long as you have a dancing penguin to go with them.”  It’s possible that he had a point.

Oh well.  They make really cute pajamas. ;-)

Keeping cool

Playing in the paddling pool (and Charlie demonstrating some brotherly love at the end)...

Baby food is for babies!

At the ripe old age of 10 months, Keanan has decided that he's much too old for pureed food and will pretty much only eat finger food. I'm hopeful that this is a phase and he'll go back to the purees (since it's so much easier to get veggies in him that way), but it's hard to to be too worried about it when he's so darn pleased with himself and his "big boy food."

Ellie gets a new ‘do

Miss Ellie’s hair had gotten so long and I loved it, but it was so hard to manage.  The daily battle with the tangles wore us both out and we decided it was time for a new ‘do.  She lost some inches, but none of the sass!

Poo-poo Coming!

Charlie has started showing some early signs of being interested in potty training and has successfully gone in the toilet a few times (yay!), but he gets very anxious when his diaper is off, spending most of the time holding his bobo with one hand and his front bits with the other, saying "poo-poo coming! poo-poo coming!" (with increasing urgency). Damian and I, always the nurturing, mature parents, think it's hilarious and are usually far too busy laughing to relieve his anxiety by putting a diaper on. Tonight, Charlie went on the potty, then we brushed teeth and headed into his bedroom (Charlie was diaperless). He was crawling around while I put Ellie's diaper on and he started freaking out -- "poo-poo coming! poo-poo coming!" -- at which point, he tooted and whipped around to see if it was...uhm...productive. I can't help it -- some bathroom humor is funny.

Keanan’s first wagon ride

We’re still getting so much use and enjoyment from the wagon that Shiny Grandpa and Meme got for the kids 2.5 years ago – the kids love it and it comes in handy more times than we could’ve imagined.  And now Keanan loves it just as much as his sister and brother do – particularly when his brother is the one driving and his sister is entertaining him.

It’s not quite as much fun when his brother tries to fold down the seat while he’s still sitting in it:

Pulling/Pushing Up

Keanan one step closer to walking and toddlerhood, and one step farther from babyhood: he's pulling up with ease. He's been pushing up for a couple of weeks, but something clicked and now he can pull up on just about anything. I'm afraid to look, but I think I'll try to figure out how long it took the Bigs to start walking after they could pull up...

Okay, 3.5 months from the time Charlie pulled up to his first independent steps. I can totally handle that!
