Ellie's first day of school

Ellie started school today! She's going Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. I've been so excited...and feeling guilty about being so excited, but I just knew she would love making new friends and being so active. It's so hard to give her undivided attention these days and even harder to actually do anything with her...and a girl can only read the same books, unload the same drawers and cabinets, jump off the same coffee table, etc. so many times before she starts going a bit mad...and Ellie hit that point! Now she'll be learning Spanish, doing crafts, going to PE, etc. twice a week and hopefully that will make the other three weekdays more bearable...for all of us!

As I suspected, Ellie had a great time at school. It sounds like she was a bit quieter and more reserved than normal, but the teacher said she was just checking things out; I'm sure that by the end of the day Thursday, she'll come out of her shell and they won't be able to keep her quiet if they try!

The traditional first day of school pictures:
The kids have to bring a full-sized backpack each day -- Ellie's backpack was so heavy today (I might have packed too much for lunch, but I didn't want her to go hungry!) that she immediately started saying and signing "all done, all done!" as soon as I put it on her shoulders!
Celena, do you recognize the outfit? Thanks for the Kennedy hand-me-down -- we love it!

I did notice her clothes! I was going to comment even before I saw your note. :) So glad she can wear it. I have many more where that one came from....just waiting for you! She looks adorable and I am thrilled she loved school. Thrilled for you too! Hope you got a nap!

She looks so cute! And, carrying on the tradition of first day of school photos, all dressed up in the front yard, underneath a tree is wonderful. She's growing up so fast. Her eyes are beautiful. Wow! Just amazing.

YEAH! I'm so glad that she liked it! Her "first day of school" pictures under the tree are so perfect and she is so adorable! I can't believe they bring such a big bag to school! (Stupid blogspot didn't tell me there was a new post so I almost missed it!)
