Well, after much planning and anticipation, we took Ellie outside yesterday to experience snow for the first time. With her never-ending curiosity and her ever-improving mobility, we thought it would be a pretty exciting first. Surely she would squawk with delight, run to the snow, crawl through it, enjoy tasting it, etc. The moment had finally arrived. We wrestled her into more layers than I can count and off we went. In the end, she spent about 10 minutes outside. Here is a video of the most thrilling 5. Try not to fall asleep.

We never, ever (to steal a phrase from Alex) would have guessed that Ellie could survive that long without being in motion and making comment about the world around her. Wouldn't you just love to know what was going through her head? Hard to believe that rocks can disappear in her mouth in a heartbeat and yet snow is not of interest. We found the video riveting because it's so surreal!
It's bizarre. I've never seen her dumbstruck like that. She constantly needs stimulation through movement/noise so it was fascinating to see her senses being so overwhelmed that she didn't need anything further going on.
OMG, that is so funny! I would never have expected that response. . .or lack of response:)
