Ellie checks out the NHS

So Ellie's cold just keeps getting worse. Her cough sounds horrible, she's been pulling at her ears, she's not eating very well (compared to any other child, she's practically wolfing down her food, of course) and today, her chest felt rattly. We decided it was time to call the doctor. Damian called this morning and said that they could get her in for the afternoon surgery. This seemed a bit drastic to me -- I didn't even think she needed antibiotics; I just wanted someone to listen to her chest and look at her ears. Luckily, "surgery" means nothing more than just a normal doctor's appointment. So what do they call surgery? Hhm.

Anyway, the doctor checked her out and said that her chest is fine (phew!), but one of her ears is slightly infected. The good news is that her ear isn't bad enough to require antibiotics -- the doctor said just to give her Tylenol and to bring her back if anything changes. Despite obviously being in pain, and on top of having jet lag, Ellie is still happy and smiley. She's recently started flirting with people...she just smiles away, turns her head and buries her chin in her shoulder -- adorable!

So other than Ellie's cold, everything is going very well here. The weather is great (low 70's), and we're all getting over the jet lag -- Ellie slept from 8:00 p.m. to 9:40 a.m. (when I woke her up), with a quick meal at 10:30 p.m. and another at 8:00 a.m. We walked up to town (it's a short 5-10 minute walk) and went to a farmer's market, the grocery store, etc. Tomorrow, there is a sale at the allotment that is right outside our front door -- everyone sells whatever produce they've grown and can't use -- I can't wait!

The batteries in the camera were dead, so I wasn't able to take any pictures -- tomorrow for sure!
